  1. Step Challenge for St Vincent’s

To mark the launch of their MyLife health and wellbeing app, Irish Life is sponsoring a competition on Ireland AM which will raise money for a charity. The “Ireland AM Step Challenge” will run from January 16th to February 13th.

The three teams in the challenge are lead by presenters, Brianna Parkins & Lisa Cannon and by Peter Stringer and the winning team will raise €5,000 for their nominated charity.

We are delighted that Laura Woods has selected St Vincent’s as her preferred charity.

Any user of the app can join a team so we encourage as many as possible to join Laura’s team and raise money for a worthy cause within St Vincent’s.

As well as participating, users can track the performance of their own team and the others, on the app as the challenge progresses.

    Please support.

In memory of her beloved husband Jim, Freddie Eustace along with family and friends organised a fundraising dinner in aid of Pancreatic Cancer Research and Care here in St. Vincent’s. The dinner took place in Lansdowne Rugby Club on Saturday 16th November last.

In one of the most successful fundraisers organised for St. Vincent’s, this function raised a total of €37,725.94 and comes at a most appropriate time as St. Vincent’s, being the National Centre for Pancreatic care, is investing heavily in our capability.

We are sincerely grateful to all involved.

Pictured below are Freddie Eustace with her daughters Sophie, Kate & Emma presenting proceeds to Mr. Justin Geoghegan, Consultant Surgeon, St. Vincent’s and John Hickey, C.E.O. St. Vincent’s Foundation.

In a very novel fundraising exercise Catriona Marie Byrne, Joe Kinahan & Oisin Weitzman raised €550 for Mental Health Care in St. Vincent’s. All three are Music students in Maynooth University.

They organised a series of music lessons in schools in Castleknock and Maynooth, followed by a concert.  Both were enthusiastically received and the contribution to the care in the hospital is much appreciated.

Pictured are Joe & Catriona Marie presenting proceeds to John Hickey.

  9. Competition for Aerial Photograph Prize – for Liver Unit in memory of Karen Jackson

In a further demonstration of the esteem in which Karen Jackson was held in her community in Cavan, Martin O’Reilly organised a truly novel competition. Martin conducted a competition on his Facebook page and the winner would receive a framed aerial photograph. Interestingly the photograph was enabled by a drone.

Martin raised €400 for the Liver Unit in St. Vincent’s in Karen’s memory from this competition.

    Well done and sincere thanks
