Dublin Marathon 2017
Leave a CommentBest of luck to all our supporters taking part in this weekend’s Dublin Marathon, fundraising for various causes in St. Vincent’s.
This My Legacy Week, St. Vincent’s Foundation ask you to continue to support us by leaving a legacy gift in your will, after you have taken care of your family and loved ones. Large or small, it is a special and personal way to make an impact on causes you cherish most for the future.
We are part of My Legacy, an umbrella group of over 50 Irish charities who work together to highlight how important it is for everybody to have a will and to ask people to remember a charity they care about, once all other important personal decisions have been made.
Many Irish people put off making a will even though it is not a daunting experience and can give you peace of mind. A solicitor has a checklist of all the things to be decided upon and once that is done, you can add whatever legacy gift you feel is right and possible. Most of us have been touched by the amazing work charities do in our lives and communities. Three simple steps is all it takes to remember those you care about in your will.
You can learn more about leaving a legacy gift to charity and find a local solicitor to help you make your will at
Halloween in St. Vincent’s would not be complete without Christine Kearney’s annual raffle. Each year Christine and her friends present a marvelous seasonal image while raising money for a vital cause in the hospital. This year’s draw takes place on Wednesday 25th October at 3.30pm in the hospital (at main reception desk).
Christine & friends will be selling tickets throughout that Wednesday at the main reception desk.
In the meantime, tickets are also available from the Main Reception Desk in St. Vincent’s.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT THIS RAFFLE ONLINE, PLEASE MAKE A DONATION SUPPORTING BREAST CANCER AND WE WILL PUT AN ENTRY IN THE RAFFLE FOR EACH €10 DONATED.
On a glorious day in July, The Garden of Ireland Vintage Car Club held it’s annual Tom Kennedy Memorial Rally in Ashford, Co. Wicklow.
The rally, which supports fundraising for St. Anne’s Cancer Care in St. Vincent’s University Hospital raised €2,100. This event has now raised almost €12,000.
With a record attendance of cars, tractors and a most impressive Dog Show, the spectacle was wonderful. As always there was a huge effort by the Committee in making this happen.
On behalf of our patients, we are really thankful to Tom’s family and everyone involved in this over the years.

One of our youngest contributors to date, is Sadhbh Lynch. She very generously contributed €26 because her grandad was being treated in St. Vincent’s and she wanted to assist with his medicine.
Thank you Sadhbh.
Laurence Keenan Jnr. from County Cavan undertook the most arduous fundraising effort when he decided to cycle from Malin Head to Mizen Head, to raise money for C.F. in St. Vincent’s. This epic journey is over 600km.
From this huge effort Laurence raised €1,000 and we are indebted to him on behalf of our patients.
Best of luck to St. Vincent’s University Hospital employee Kasia Marcinowska, who is doing the Everest Base Camp trek in October. This is a 3 week trek in Nepal from Lukla to the Base Camp of Mount Everest. On the way to the Base Camp Kasia will face different challenges such as altitude effects and will experience extreme weather conditions.
Kasia who works in Medical H.R. Dept. in St. Vincent’s, is fundraising for Cancer Research here in St. Vincent’s. In her fundraising page she states “I’ve created this page because I want to support cancer research in Ireland. I believe that thanks to this research more lives can be saved sooner and even the smallest help can make a difference. I also want this initiative to add another meaning and motivate me during the Everest Base Camp trek which my team and I will start on 16th October 2017. Please help me to support Cancer Research in St. Vincent’s”
If you would like to support Kasia’s fundraising efforts, please donate via her Everyday Hero fundraising page on https://give.everydayhero.com/ie/everest-base-camp-2
