The Wild Run West – 5 marathons in 72 hours – fundraiser for St. Vincent’s Liver Unit & Fowler’s Syndrome

20/11/2023

A stellar effort over St. Patricks weekend saw Ailbhe Quinn (Latton, Co. Monaghan), Eimear Sammon (Monaghan Town) and Bob Grace (Rower Inistioge, Co. Kilkenny) complete their run from Latton to Westport Co. Mayo.

They battled all four seasons through sun, rain, wind and hail to complete an incredible 210km journey and raised €25,000 for St. Vincent’s Foundation Liver Unit in the process!

They set off from Latton O’Rahilly GAA grounds on Thursday morning and headed towards Cootehill and onto Cavan where they were absolutely overwhelmed by the send off they received! This support continued over the weekend as they clocked off the kms and got closer and closer to their destination. The money continued to roll in on GoFundMe and just hours after they arrived into Westport the target was reached!

A virtual run/walk challenge saw over 100 people get involved before the main challenge took place! We are forever thankful for everyone who got involved.

A massive thank you goes out to everyone who donated, those who came out to support the lads and those who helped out over the journey. Also a special thank you to all the support runners, driving and support team without whom the weekend wouldn’t have been possible.

We are deeply grateful for this contribution to our Liver patient care.
