On Easter Sunday last, the staff of Dunnes Stores Cornelscourt organised an inter-departmental football match to fundraise for Cancer Care in St Vincent’s.

The staff involved gave their time on one of the two days in the year that the store closes. The event raised the terrific contribution of €410. We really appreciate this generosity and particular thanks to staff member Hazel Brack who does so much for St Vincent’s and her colleague John Shields who organised the day.

See some photos below from the day.

  3. Vote on our Christmas Card designs

Over the last few years we have had suggestions from staff and supporters that we would supplement the traditional designs of Christmas Cards.

We are ordering 3 additional designs this year to add to our choice. St. Vincent’s will be acknowledged on each card and they are printed and designed in Ireland.

We want to ensure that the selected designs are those preferred by yourselves and therefore, we would like you to vote on your Top 3 from the 7 designs (A to G). The cards can be viewed on our website under “How to help”

We would be grateful if you could reply to stvincentsfoundation@svhg.ie with your choice 1,2,3, in priority order, so that we can ascertain the views of our supporters.

Voting will close on July 15th.

On April 13th 2013 Hazel Brack organised a very ambitious event in the Sallynoggin Inn to fundraise for Breast Cancer care and research in St Vincent’s.

With great entertainment and a raffle supported by sponsors including Hazel’s employer, Dunnes Stores, the event raised over €2,200 for a great cause. This is the latest in a great series of fundraising ventures by Hazel.

We are grateful for this superb support.

Eamonn & Mary Burke from Arklow again organised their New Year’s Day Swim in Arklow for the Liver Unit in St. Vincent’s.

Eamonn is a liver transplant recipient. He and Mary recently called in (see photo above) to present the proceeds from this year’s event, which raised a magnificent sum of €6,300. On a clear but cold day Eamonn and Mary had nearly 50 people taking part which was fantastic.

Our sincere thanks to all who organised and supported this event and to the people of Arklow who generously support this annual event. (See photos below taken on the day)

  8. Exercise equipment purchase for I.C.U. from a grateful patient and their family

Celebrating his great outcome from treatment in St. Vincent’s, Joel Durand and his wife Katia and their extended family, purchased an exercise bicycle for the I.C.U. Dept. in the hospital.

This unique piece of equipment, which cost in excess of €5,000, enables patients to exercise while confined to bed. Due to an increase in the level of input and control required by the patients, it makes a tremendous contribution to their wellbeing and recovery.  We are really grateful to Katia and Joel for this wonderful gift to our patients. They recently called in and met with staff from I.C.U. and the Plastics Team.

We want to thank everybody who supported this initiative by buying cards or raffle lines. We are particularly grateful to the donors of the wonderful prizes and to the many volunteers who gave their time to make this a great success.

The funds will be a welcome contribution to helping our patients.

Well done to those who were successful in the raffle.
