C.F. Unit Fundraising in memory of Sandra Dunne Lousse R.I.P.

16/08/2013

In memory of Sandra Dunne R.I.P. from Donadea, County Kildare who lost her battle with Cystic Fibrosis in January of this year, her husband Amaury Lousse, the Dunne family, relatives and many friends have undertaken numerous fundraising events to fundraise for the C.F. Unit here in St. Vincent’s

Among the events they organised were the Meath Garda Spin 10km Cycling Race in Trim on 27th April last and a Fun Run on 19th May. In addition, many family members and friends took part in the Flora Women’s Mini Marathon. In a novel fundraising exercise they requested that Poor Box contributions stipulated by Naas & Trim Courts would be committed to C.F. in St. Vincent’s.

In an enormous effort lead by Amaury, Sandra’s brother Brian, and her sister Laura they raised a total of €34,400 to improve facilities for C.F. patients in St. Vincent’s Hospital.

Amaury along with Sandra’s parents Sarah & Joe, Sister Laura, Brother Brian, Aunt Bridget and sister-in-law Ann Marie, called in on 15th August to present the fundraising proceeds. It was a particularly emotional visit for the family and we thank them for making that difficult journey. Our thanks, also, to Prof. Charles Gallagher and the many members of the C.F. multi-disciplinary team who knew, loved, and cared for Sandra and who came to meet with the family on their visit.
