Collen Construction Ltd. “Building Bridges” Charity Cycle 2023 for St. Anne’s Cancer Care

This amazing company now in it’s 213th year of doing business, places the highest priority on contributing to the communities in which it operates. St. Vincent’s is fortunate to have been selected as a Charity Partner by Collen Construction raising funds for St Anne’s Cancer in the hospital. St. Anne’s was originally selected by Collen in memory of their much-loved colleague, the late Conor O’Carroll, who was treated in St. Vincent’s.

The 2023 Charity Cycle which was named “Building Bridges” took place in September. The title adopted the message of connection and unity as a bridge of support. The concept was that as many people as possible would take part and either cross or pass a bridge as part of their cycle. Sandra Kelly, the extraordinary Chair of the Cycling Committee highlighted the driving motivation of the fundraising: “Whether bridging physical distance, or overcoming obstacles, anything is possible when we commit to ‘Building Bridges’ together”.

Predictably the 2023 event was a huge success. 480 team members took part raising a grand total of €150,000 for 21 charities in Ireland, UK, Sweden and Denmark.

St. Vincent’s Foundation was presented with a fantastic donation of €9,000 from the 2023 event, bringing to €28,000 the support that the Collen Cycle has contributed to Cancer Care in the hospital since 2020.

Tommy Drumm has announced that he will shortly retire as M.D. of Collen Construction. Tommy has been one of our greatest supporters in the company. We wish him well in the next phase and we thank him sincerely for all his contribution to the hospital.

We cannot adequately thank the management of Collen, The Cycling Committee, the participants and the terrific sponsors who contributed to this outcome.
