Macra Na Feirme Wexford Reunion Barbecue in Memory of Eileen Doyle

12/10/2023

On 22nd September 2023, Wexford Macra Na Feirme current and previous members held a barbecue in Askanmore Community Centre, County Wexford. The organisers had the twin aims of commemorating their great friend, Eileen Doyle (nee Graham), who had died just 3 months before, and raising money for Cancer Care in St. Vincent’s and for Wexford Hospice.

Eileen was a much loved member of her community and a huge figure in County Wexford Macra Na Feirme. She was awarded a National recognition from Macra for her work for the organisation.

The enormous task of making contact with Macra members going back as far as the 1970’s was undertaken by a hardworking Committee and resulted in a wonderful evening enjoyed by all and raising €7,190 which was shared equally between Cancer Care in St. Vincent’s and Wexford Hospice.

Geraldine Doyle, speaking at the event concluded with a phrase very appropriate to the grief of Eileen’s family and friends “Death leaves a heartache that no-one can heal & love leaves memories no-one can steal”.

As we express our gratitude for this great contribution of €3,595 to St. Vincent’s we also sympathise with Eileen’s husband, Michael, and her family, on their great loss.

Pictured below is a photo of Eileen Doyle RIP and also a photo of the cheque presentation which took place recently in Craanford Community Centre.
